CDC Covid-19 Guidelines and Precautionary Measures In Practice at All Hand and Orthopedic Clinic Locations

We would like you to know that Hand and Orthopedic Physical Therapy Specialists is acting in accordance with all CDC and the Utah State Department of Health guidelines as well as Governor Gary Herbert’s Health & Economic Recovery Plan.

In light of the Governor’s Plan, with the first and urgent phase lasting until mid-May or beyond, we will continue to treat essential, urgent, post-surgical and acute pain patients on an as needed basis. Our main concern continues to be the safety and well-being of our patients, staff and community.


When you arrive for your appointment, each patient will be screened for Covid-19 prior to treatment. If a patient shows any of the following systems, they will be asked to reschedule their appointment:

  • Temperature above 100.4° F
  • Cough
  • Difficulty breathing

Patients will also be asked the status of the health in their household and the people they have been around.

Patients are required to wear masks as per the CDC’s guidelines.


Temperature Testing– all therapists have their temperatures taken at the beginning of each workday. If their temperature is above 100.4° F, they are not be allowed to treat patients and sent home.

Protective Masks– all physical therapists, staff and patients are required to wear masks at all times.

Hand Sanitation/Protective Gloves– all physical therapists change gloves and/or wash with hand sanitizer before treating each new patient.


CDC guidelines and precautions are strictly followed. All surfaces, handles, knobs, physical therapy equipment, chairs, desks, reception counters, plinths, tablesand touch points throughout all clinics are sanitized every 30 minutes. All therapy equipment is disinfected between each patient.

Waiting Rooms– all chairs are positioned at least six feet apart for social distancing.

Hand Sanitizer– is readily available throughout clinics for patients and staff.

Private Treatments Rooms– are available for patient treatment.

Patient Social Distancing– in order to provide a protective perimeter, no more than 10 patients are allowed in gym and open areas at one time.

Therapist Social Distancing– therapists’schedules have been cut back and altered to enlarge social distancing spacing in our clinics.


If you currently have an appointment scheduled, we would like to treat you; however, we also want you to feel safe. An option to being seen at one of our clinics would be to treat you via Telehealth. Online Appointments/Telehealth are a great way for our therapists to treat or consult with you in the privacy of your home, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
